The location was good for taking the bus to the BART but for many of our destinations, we needed a car. The staff were super helpful and the rooms were very clean.

AC Hotel by Marriott Oakland Downtown features a fitness center, shared lounge, a restaurant and bar in Oakland.

The property was very nice - looked like it was recently renovated top to bottom, clean and we loved the view across the Bay from our 13th floor room. Every single staff person that we encountered was exceptional from the valet to check-in clerks to bartender to breakfast staff. Our room was super comfy for us and our little dog - they gave us dog treats and poop bags as we checked in (note there is a $50 pet fee and $60 valet fee which seems to be typical for this neighborhood). Breakfast was really good - they even had cold brew coffee which I loved.

Located in Oakland, a 5-minute walk from Paramount Theater, Moxy Oakland Uptown has accommodations with a fitness center, private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

It was difficult to fully appreciate positive aspects of the stay due to the number of functional issues encountered. The cleanliness of our room itself was acceptable.

my wife had her spleen and half of her Pancreas removed that afternoon due to CANCER. that evening I was told they would be bringing a sleeper couch in her room so the hotel was no longer needed plus I could not get in the room with that KEY. so, i was going to be staying in the hospital for FREE but I had to buy my own meals in the hospital cafeteria. PRAISR GOD ... my wife is CANCER FREE now. we were in Oakland for 6 days and taken R.T. BY their Keiser Ambulance services ... they were very helpful.

I love coming to the Bay Area.

I love coming to the Bay Area. It’s not cold like SF & not hot like STOCKTON the weather is jus rite. The vibes are exactly what you look for when traveling weather it’s for work or leisure you just can’t go wrong with this Bay Area city.

I was in Oakland for a concert at the arena, and again while in transit home. I'm not sure I'd want to stay longer. Downtown around 12th/City Center was fine during the day, some nice cafes and small shops. The BART is an efficient way to get around (especially from 12th/City Center to the arena and both SF and Oakland airports) and I found it no more intimidating than the underground/metro/subway in London, Paris or New York - there were staff and police visible at the stations in the evening and plenty of other people around. However, it was very noticeable that the city's reputation for drugs and homelessness is well-founded. There are people sleeping rough and apparently distressed all over the place, and huge encampments of shacks/tents/vans in many areas, including outside some quite upmarket hotels. Do your research on the area before booking and be sensible when you're out and about. I had no problems whatsoever but I am used to big city life - others might find the city's atmosphere intimidating.

Just like any other city in America.

Just like any other city in America. It has it’s good parts and the bad parts. Ten years prior, Oakland had three professional sports teams. No more. The warriors are still close. Across the bay. I would definitely recommend going to one of Oakland Fires fire houses. A lot of history. One of our country’s oldest fire departments. Established 1869.

Don’t believe the stigmas you hear about Oakland.

Don’t believe the stigmas you hear about Oakland. Very nice city. But then again, I’m kinda biased since I worked and retired here. The restaurants are great. The diversity of Oakland will surprise you. I would say only a few other cities in the country can compare. Yes it has crime, just like any other city. I always say, if you have common sense, you should be good. On a clear night/day head up to grizzly peak. It’s an awesome view of the Bay Area. San Francisco can be really beautiful at night. And I would compare this place to any other place on the planet.

I went to school at Cal and was on the rowing team so I spent a lot of time in the area of the Oakland Estuary. I am troubled by the decline of the area and the feeling that it isn't as safe as it used to be.

I have enjoyed strolling through the Piedmont Street with a variety of shops and restaurants only a short walk from the hotel Signature on Broadway. During my stay I have taken a bus to Downtown, Old Town and China Town in Oakland. My visit to Oakland sides was enjoyable and relaxing, especially on Sunday when I visited the Piedmont Street. It was recommended that I visit the Rock Ridge neighborhood, but I run out of time. The city has a good public transportation system, and it is relatively easy to travel to San Francisco if you like to visit a larger more exciting city.
